Every year, the Palais de l'Élysée opens its doors to the public for the Journées du Patrimoine. This high place of power, usually closed to the general public, confirms its participation in the 41st edition. An opportunity to discover the prestigious salons of the Hôtel du Comte d'Évreux. Ticket sales open this Monday, September 16, 2024 at 6pm.

TheHôtel d'Évreux, better known as the Palais de l'Élysée, is one of the most popular sites for the Journées du Patrimoine. This year, for the 41st edition of the event, the establishment awaits you for unprecedented tours of the Republic's goldsmiths.

Already considered"the most beautiful pleasure house in the vicinity of Paris" in the 18th century, the Hôtel d'Évreux was successively owned by the Count of Évreux, Louis XV and Napoleon, before being definitively destined to become the residence of the Presidents of the Republic, following a decree in 1848.

A self-guided tour of the buildings allows us to discover the Hôtel d'Évreux and its 1889 layout (nothing has really changed since then, apart from the installation of electricity and running water). From the Salon Murat, where the Council of Ministers meets every Wednesday, to the Salle des Fêtes, set up to host state dinners for the 1889 Universal Exhibition, we're transported to the heart of power.

The tour then continues into the intimacy of the President's office, located in the Salon Doré, decorated by Jean-Louis Godon in 1861 for Empress Eugénie. The courtyard and gardens are also open to visitors. The rest of the program includes virtual reality, a film and a display of the President's fleet of cars. Please note that reservations are required, via the Élysée website.
