The Eiffel Tower in blue: for how long is it covered in the European Union colors?

To celebrate France’s European Union presidency, several Parisian landmarks displayed the European colors for the first week of January. As for the Eiffel tower, it is to stay lit in blue until the end of the month.

France runs the European Union council from January 1, 2022, and for six months. To celebrate the event, in Paris, many monuments have displayed Europe’s colors at nightfall. The Arc de Triomphe, the Hôtel des Invalides, the Opéra Garnier, or even the Elysée Palace have been lit in blue for the first week of January.

The Eiffel Tower also marks the event. Since the beginning of the year, the 12 stars symbolizing the European Union have been adorning the Parisian landmark. The iron lady keeps on being dressed in a blue coat from the beginning of the evening and sparkles as usual at the beginning of every hour after dusk. From all over Paris, Parisians and tourists can enjoy this light dress. Unlike other monuments, the blue Eiffel Tower plays along longer: it will display the European Union’s colors until January 31, 2022.
