If you book tickets to go and discover this Sunday the exhibition devoted to Eugène Leroy, then, you might be disappointed. The famous Museum of Modern Art (MAM) set in Paris 16th arrondissement, unfortunately had to cut this installation short.
As it was to come to a close on Sunday August 28, 2022, the museum announced the early and definitive closure of the Eugène Leroy exhibition, in a tweet published this past August 23rd. How come ? The violent bad weather that hit the capital city this past August 16. Diluvian rainfalls led to electrical malfunctions that could not be solved in time. “The electrical malfunctions related to the August 16’s bad weather could not be solved in expected time, we are sorry to have to close the Eugène Leroy exhibition early”, the MAM wrote on Twitter this past Tuesday.
Although the museum specifies the artist’s works were not damaged, the installation devoted to Leroy was not the only one to suffer from the consequences of the bad weather. The MAM explains “some rooms in the permanent collections may also be closed”.
What about ticket reimbursement? The Museum of Modern Art says they will proceed automatically. If you have any question about the ticketing service, please contact the museum per email (parismuseesquestions.billetterie@paris.fr).
Although it made a lot of people sad, for the record, Paris Museum of Modern Art is about to house their next exhibition. Devoted to Austrian artist Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980), it is to open from September 23rd.
