Due to a drop in temperatures and the arrival of a new disturbance, Météo France has placed 16 French departments under yellow vigilance for "snow-verglas" for the day of Friday February 7, 2025. These include the departments of Manche, Ille-et-Vilaine, Calvados, Seine-Maritime, Eure, Mayenne, Orne, Eure-et-Loir and Sarthe.
This Friday,"a cold drop (pocket of cold air at altitude) is building up over the north-west of the country", warns the weather service, which adds that it will"generate light precipitation from the south-west to the north, sometimes in the form of mixed rain and snow from Pays-de-la-Loire to Normandy". "During the coldest hours, snow alone may occur locally, with very uncertain ground holding," adds Météo France.
So what's the situation in Paris and the Ile-de-France region? Three departments in the Paris region are also affected by this yellow alert for snow and freezing rain. These are Yvelines, Essonne and Val-d'Oise. According to Météo France, this snowy episode could affect these three Île-de-France departments during the night of Thursday to Friday, from 1am. It could last until around 10am on Friday morning.
"The Île-de-France region will be less affected by the snowfall, with only a few melted flakes, or even a light dusting in the countryside, on the plateaus," reports La Chaîne Météo.
Many uncertainties therefore remain at this stage. We advise you to keep abreast of these forecasts and of future updates to the severe weather warning map. You should also be extremely cautious when traveling, and if possible, avoid taking the car in certain départements where icy patches are forecast.
