This week of August 19 to 25, 2024 celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris in August 1944. To mark the occasion, the city of Paris is organizing numerous commemorations and events over several days, culminating on Sunday August 25. After numerous masses, tributes, ceremonies and wreath-laying, a military parade will take place from 4.15pm onwards, from Porte d'Orléans to Place Denfert-Rochereau, closing the metro and RER station there.
As a result, it will be impossible to transfer to or get offmetro lines 6 and 4, or the RER B at Denfert-Rochereau station, from 1pm onwards this Sunday. After the parade, an official ceremony will take place on the square in the presence of the Mayor of Paris and the President of the Republic, with a flyover by the Patrouille de France and the arrival of a special Paralympic flame.
If you'd like to attend these commemorations, it's a good idea to visit one of the nearby stations, such as Montparnasse or Port-Royal!
