In a few years' time, Italy's Trenitalia plans to set up operations in England, with a view to operating a service between Paris and London.

Having already put its trains on French railroads to link Lyon, Paris, Marseille and even Milan, Trenitalia is continuing its expansion and is now tackling the other side of the Channel! The company has set its sights on the English capital, with a new route linking Paris to London.

Known for its bright red trains - the Frecciarossa, after its nickname - Trenitalia is best known for being the first railway company to compete with the SNCF. Gradually establishing a foothold in France's rail territory, Trenitalia is continuing its conquest and is now targeting England, with a new high-speed rail service linking London and Paris by 2029. In all, over a billion euros will be invested in this new rail link between France and England, operated by an Italian company.

This announcement follows confirmation from the UK's Office of Railand Roads that it will open up its railroads to a new operator between London and Paris. For the time being, the only service is provided byEurostar, departing from Gare du Nord in Paris.
