Many brave souls braved the rain to attend the biggest and best Chinese New Year parade in Paris, that is, in the 13th arrondissement, on Sunday February 18, 2024. A festive event, with dragon and lion dances and traditional costumes, to start the New Year in the traditional way.
The Chinese New Year parade in Paris' 13th arrondissement is undoubtedly the most eagerly awaited Lunar New Year parade in the capital, as much by Parisians as by the many tourists who come to discover this colorful and festive festival.
While this year's Lunar New Year took place on Saturday February 10, the festivities can continue for several weeks. So it was not on the big day, but the following week that Paris's benchmark Chinatown celebrated the New Year, much to our delight.
The 13th arrondissement's Chinese New Year parade took place on Sunday February 18, between avenue de Choisy, porte de Choisy and avenue d'Ivry. The parade set off at around 2.30pm for a most joyful and lively route.
The many associations parading around in traditional costumes and superb make-up were there for all to see. In spite of the cold, we let ourselves be carried away by the sound of cymbals and drums in a joyful and good-humored atmosphere.
A flagship event in the 13th arrondissement, this festive parade once again drew thousands of people. It was an opportunity for many to discover Chinese culture, traditions and folklore.
