The Musée de la Préfecture de Police is taking part in Nuit des Musées 2024, scheduled for Saturday May 18. This museum, designed in 1909 by Préfet Louis Lépine, brings together over four centuries of police history in 300m² of collections. While one gallery looks back at the notions of crime and punishment from the Ancien Régime to the abolition of the death penalty in 1981, another space presents the professions of the Préfecture de Police!
The Musée de la Préfecture de Police is an opportunity to relive some of France's most notorious cases through the stories of four centuries of bloody crimes, attacks and political assassinations; regicides, blood crimes, murders by poison, skulduggery or swindles... The museum portrays some of the world's most brutal criminals, who never cease to be the talk of the town, as evidenced by the life-like portrait of Cartouche in his prison!
Le programme est mis à jour en fonction des annonces officielles.
In short, it's a great opportunity to find out more about this institution, which is involved in the lives of Parisians on a daily basis. Happy Nuit des Musées!
