A free museum near you, open at night? Yes, it's possible with the Nuit des Musées, this great celebration of culture that lets us discover museums and monuments in a festive, evening atmosphere. This Saturday, May 13, 2023, marks the 18th edition of this not-to-be-missed event.
Once again this year, the Musée français de la photographie, founded by Jean and André Fage, will be opening its doors free of charge during the evening. Initially an association museum in Bièvres, it was taken over by the Conseil départemental de l'Essonne, which committed itself to preserving and promoting the collections, through the construction of a new museum !
The museum's collections include more than 25,000 objects, including "Machines à dessiner" (drawing machines), silver cameras, laboratory equipment, a million amateur, professional and artist photographs, a library and a unique technical archive. The history of photography unfolds before our very eyes, in this fascinating exhibition tour that should delight lovers of the art.
We're taking advantage of the Nuit des musées to discover this museum, which offers free visits from early afternoon until 9pm.
