Every year, the Nuit des Musées (Night of the Museums ) invites us to rediscover our heritage in a different way, through a program of night-time visits, often free of charge, with the added bonus of entertainment, concerts, workshops and other surprises. For the occasion, museums, castles, monuments and other institutions are waiting to reveal their secrets for an evening full of discoveries. For this year's edition, this not-to-be-missed cultural event will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
If you're in the Yvelines region, you can look forward to a great program for this Nuit des Musées 2024. Among the heritage treasures of this département, in the town of Rambouillet, there's a historic nugget that absolutely deserves a visit: the Palais du Roi de Rome.
Built in the early 19th century under Napoleon I, this palace was originally designed to house his son, the King of Rome, also known as Napoleon II. This architectural gem, blending neoclassical and Empire styles, bears witness to the ambition and genius of the Napoleonic era. Every nook and cranny of the palace exudes history, with its sumptuous frescoes, ornate ceilings and magnificent formal gardens, where you'll love to stroll and escape.
