Do you sing out of tune? Well for the White Night 2019, head to the Théâtre de l’Opéra Comique. There, an Operaoke expects you from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. to sing Carmen, La Bohème, La Traviata and The Barber of Seville (among others).
Accompanied by a choir master, you’ll be invited to sing (or murder) these classics at the top of your lungs in this magnificent venue!
When we know the Salle Favart at the Opéra Comique can house up to 1,255 spectators, this White Night will be the occasion to make some noise in this Opéra Comique venue wished by Catherine Baron in 1714 – who has been the first director – and Gautier de Saint-Edme. Both were members of a carny company pushed back by the Comédie Française and the Académie Royale de Musique (current Opéra Garnier).
At that time already, the company performed parodies of opera but had to mix it with drama to bypass the law.
Starting from 11 p.m., after the great Parade of the White Night in the streets of Paris, Pilar Albarracin will come and take over the lobby of the Opéra Comique with many women dressed in flamenco dresses to protest against Carmen’s death.
According to Paris City Hall, this giant karaoke will be a big auditive mess but a great thing to see!
