On the occasion of the White Night 2019, Paris Philharmonie renews its musical marathons and gives pride of place to organ, cello, trios and chamber choirs, performing non-stop from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. And for children, small concerts and surprises from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.!
Famous for its rooms with an excellent acoustic making you feel like you’re seated next to musicians, Paris Philharmonie remains open all night long this Saturday October 5, 2019 to celebrate the White Night with a great fanfare.
For the White Night 2019, 4 concert programs are available:
- Nuit étoilée in the Museum of Music:
The Musée de la Musique remains open all night long and welcomes the Mikrokosmos chamber choir that will sing the greatest contemporary songs in hybrid creations, accompanied by taikos (Japanese drums), saxophones and unknown sound objects.
- Nuit des petits in the Conference room:
This year, the Philharmonie offers a white night for children, starting from 6 years old. For 4 hours, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., children can be introduced to music with travelling musicians and other surprises suiting their ears.
- Nuit du Trio in the Studio:
Trio Wanderer takes over the Studio and invites trios Messiaen, Chausson, Karénine, Talweg, Les Esprits, Zadig, Sora and Métal to perform a musical marathon going from Schubert to modern works.
- Nuit de l'Orgue in the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez:
For the White Night 2019, the Philharmonie promotes its monumental organ, inaugurated in 2016. For 9 hours, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Frédéric Blondy, James McVinnie, Andrew Forbes and Jonathan Fitoussi will play major works by Eliane Radigue, Arvo Pärt, Philip Glass, Nico Muhly on the four-key, 91-set and 6000-pipe organ!
- Nuit des Odyssées by Sonia Wieder-Atherton in the Concert Room:
Sonia Wieder-Atherton returns to the Philharmonie for the White Night 2019 for a show-concert created for her cello. The French artist will reveal her odysseys, covernig Back to Aperghis without forgetting Prokofiev and Bellini.
- Nuit Dichterliebe in the Auditorium:
This year, the Philharmonie welcomes Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson, known for his long-term works mixing video clips, performance, visual arts and music, for a performance of Robert Schuman's Dichterliebe cycle from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., naming 9 hours of concert. For this adventure, he'll be accompanied by pianist Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir!
Here’s one of the boldest programs of this White Night: almost 50 hours of concerts performed for a unique musical journey. What a wonder.
