A mobile cotton candy factory that throws cotton candy into the air is the crazy idea of Vivien Roubaud, an artist accustomed to hijacking the utilitarian functions of machines! Planned as part of the 2019 Nuit Blanche parade, scheduled for this Saturday, October 5, 2019, this work will make its way between Concorde and Bastille between 7pm and 10pm.
A waste of sugar? More or less, because you'll be able to pick up this cotton candy dropped in the air with your hands or a stick and eat it. How does it work? DIY artist Vivien Roubaud has hijacked sandblasters and centrifugal ovens so that they toss sugar filaments into the air. The only hitch: rain, if it comes at all.
If this sounds familiar, it's because the cotton candy factorywas already in Paris in 2018, during the Les Faits du hasard exhibition at 104. And if you like it, good news, because this work joins the Grand Paris Express collection of nomadic artworks: it will continue to travel around Greater Paris, and there's even talk that it will be present on the forecourt of the Grand Palais during FIAC from October 17 to 20, 2019.
Call all the (big) kids you know, they'll love it!
