Symbol of tolerance and love of life, Travball can be discovered for the White Night 2019. This sport – created in 2018 by Mehryl Levisse – makes two teams of four compete on a colorful and crooked field.
For over 20 minutes, bolster in hand, you have to score as many points as possible (not always) watched by the perched referee (seated in a high tennis chair), supported by the cheerleaders and the mascot. How to score points? No idea, it depends on the referee.
Easy going, Travball is a good moment of conviviality, far from the serious and often manly standards of sport. For the White Night 2019, the artist called in 14 Drag Queens from Paris including Nomai Camara, Lady Carbone, Lola Dragoness, Le Filip, Cookie Kunty, Ryûq Qiddo, Mariska Stardust, Schlampakir Von Fickdich and Angora Von Lear.
Here, jerseys are covered in florals for a very laid-back game. Trophies, outfits, refreshment stall, flags, coats of arms, Ladoumègue gym will be entirely transformed on the occasion.
Presented for the first time at the Maison des Arts in Malakoff, Travball is trying to find a spot in the Paris for diversity. For Mehryl Levisse, Travball is a good example of inclusive sport, far from the conventional sports.
A mix between handball and pillow fight, this sport will delight children and adults. Let’s go and try it!
