Get ready for the return of Nuit Blanche to Paris on Saturday, June 3, 2023! The open-air art extravaganza that transforms the city with light installations, creative performances and ephemeral exhibitions will once again take over the streets of the capital! An exceptional night when art transcends borders and awakens the imagination of all, and when artists and the public mingle in a vibrant atmosphere of exchange and sharing. Nuit Blanche celebrates creativity and reminds us of the power of art to bring people together and inspire.
For Nuit Blanche 2023, the City of Light will be illuminating the finest institutions and other prized addresses on the Parisian landscape, as well as some of the charming gardens and squares sprouting up around the capital. Such is the case of Square du Vert Galant. Located on the Île de la Cité in the heart of Paris, it was named in honor of Henri IV, nicknamed "Vert Galant" for his reputation as a seducer. Created in the 17th century under the direction of architect Claude Chastillon, the garden has undergone a number of modifications over the centuries. In the 18th century, trees and flowerbeds were added. During the French Revolution, it was neglected and used as a playground. In the 19th century, the architect Alphonse de Gisors redesigned it in a romantic style, with winding paths, groves and a central fountain. Today, the square is a popular spot where Parisians and tourists alike relax, picnic and enjoy the panoramic views. Considered one of the most beautiful gardens in Paris, it represents a veritable haven of peace amidst the hustle and bustle of the city!
