For this Nuit Blanche 2024 in Paris, La Chapelle Expiatoire also invites us to unveil an artistic installation by Nathalie Joffre in the heart of the historic monument on Saturday June 1, 2024.

Every year, NuitBlanche transforms Paris and the surrounding area, offering Parisians of all ages a nocturne on the frontiers of reality. During this special evening, contemporary art makes the capital its stage, taking over emblematic, historic and confidential venues to unveil works, installations and performances to enthusiasts and the curious alike. With each edition, Nuit Blanche offers its share of intriguing, spectacular, immersive, moving and inspiringartistic experiences. We won't want to miss the next event, which takes place in the Paris region on the night of Saturday June 1, 2024 to Sunday June 2, 2024.

Among the venues hosting artworks at NuitBlanche this year is the Chapelle Expiatoire, a historic monument located in the capital's 8th arrondissement , in the heart of a verdant square. Here, we find a site erected in place of the Madeleine cemetery, which originally housed the bodies of Louis XVI, the last King of France under the Ancien Régime, and Queen Marie-Antoinette.

While the latter were transferred to the necropolis of the kings of France within the Basilique Saint-Denis, Louis XVIII, brother of Louis XVI, had the Chapelle Expiatoire built at the beginning of the 19th century, in memory of the royal couple. It's in this place, closely linked to French history, that contemporary art invites itself for the 23rd edition of the Nuit Blanche à Paris.
