Nuit blanche 2024 returns to Paris on Saturday June 1. The City of Light prepares to embark on an eventful night celebrating art and culture. Join us at the Institut du Monde Arabe to discover a musical and visual work on Arab mathematics.

La Nuit Blanche, Paris' unmissable cultural event, is back in Paris this Saturday, June 1, 2024! Whether you're a Parisian or just passing through, you'll be able to discover a series of free artistic activities open to all, with art installations, performances, concerts, exhibitions and many other surprises.

Introduced in 2002 for the first time in Paris, the Nuit Blanche aims to makecontemporary art accessible to all, and to liven up the city all night long. The 2024 edition promises a rich and varied program: exhibitions, workshops, screenings, concerts and performances are all on the agenda!

A cultural institution dedicated to promoting and disseminating Arab culture, the Institution du Monde Arabe (IMA) is taking part in Nuit Blanche. Inaugurated in 1987, the institution is the fruit of a partnership between France and 22 Arab League countries. The IMA offers a permanent exhibition, featuring works of art from Antiquity to the present day, as well as various temporary exhibitions throughout the year.

Known for its innovative architecture, with its south-facing façade featuring moucharabiehs, ventilation systems and lighting inspired by Islamic architecture, the IMA boasts a library and media library specializing in the Arab world, open to the public.

THE PROGRAM FOR THE NUIT BLANCHE 2024 AT THE INSTITUT DU MONDE ARABE :

ATELIER DES FEUILLANTINES - FABRICE GUEDY, CAROLINE DELABIE, FLORIANE RIGOLOT, CARLA GUEDY, ARMAND LEDANOIS / Geometries - the music of forms
Saturday June 1st, 9pm to 1am
L'Atelier des Feuillantines is an art school and conservatory that has won the Agence Nationale de la Recherche's "Impact Sociétal" award for its teaching and its links with conservatories and colleges.

A musical and visual work in 6 movements on Arab mathematics, created by Atelier des Feuillantines at the Institut du Monde Arabe and in the gardens of the Grand Mosque of Paris.
GEOMETRICS Part 1: the music of shapes. INSTITUT DU MONDE ARABE
A musical exploration of the moucharabiehs on the façade of the Institut du Monde Arabe:
the geometric shapes that characterize them become a score, generating a musical work composed using equations and algorithms developed by the mathematicians Al-Khwarismi and Al-Kashi.
This visual and sound journey will be perceptible from the forecourt and floors of the Institut du Monde Arabe.
GEOMETRICS Part 2: the sound of numbers. GARDENS of the GRANDE MOSQUÉE
An artistic journey through the geometry of the garden: algorithms, graphic forms, video projection and musical creation make the construction of the square, circle and sphere in 3, 4 and 5 dimensions tangible. The path also evokes Al-Khwarismi's 6 canonical equations, rendered in sound as the approximation of Pi, to the 14 decimal places of the scholar Al-Kashi.
