Despicable Me 4: the return of Gru and the minions' adventures soon on VOD

Cinema's sweetest villain is back in a fourth opus, to be (re)discovered on VOD on November 7, 2024. Gru and his minions are back in theaters for a new adventure, as crazy as ever, in Despicable Me 4.

In 2010, we met Gru, the Minions and the three girls who were to win our hearts: Margot, Edith and Agnès. We also discovered these little yellow guys, speaking an incomprehensible but hilarious gibberish, who soon enjoyed their own success (and their own animated feature film).

Twelve years later, there are three Despicable Me films, and two spin-offs centered around the Minions and their encounter with Gru. Minions 2: Once Upon a Time Gru was released last summer in France. For the fourth installment of Despicable Me, it's up to Maxime Le Mal, a big bad with a passion - or rather, an obsession - for cockroaches, to enter the fray with his diabolical dish, with the aim of destroying Gru's family.

The screenplay is by Illumination founder Mike White , while Gad Elmaleh once again lends his voice to the villainous Gru. In VO, actor Steve Carrell plays the lead role.

Now a secret agent of theAVL (Agence Vigilance de Lynx), Gru's mission is to arrest one of his former classmates: the fearsome Maxime Le Mal. But the imprisonment turns into a fiasco, the prisoner escapes and Maxime has only one thing on his mind: to destroy Gru's family. Lucie, Gru, their baby Gru junior - who appears on screen for the first time - and the girls are forced to flee to an ultra-secure residence in the small town of Mayflower.

It's here that Gru meets a super-villain-in-training, his young neighbor Poppy, who would do anything to get into the Pas Bon high school for wicked prodigies (where Gru had also studied). Under the threat of Maxime Le Mal and his army of indestructible cockroaches, Gru and his family - as well as the minions - join forces to protect themselves and resist Maxime at all costs.

A colorful feature film in keeping with the Moi, moche et méchant tradition: we love to meet up with Agnès, Edith and Margot, Gru's daughters to whom the public is particularly attached, the minions and Lucie, and we're delighted to discover a new member of the family: Gru Junior. From intrigue to twists and turns, the film lives up to its promise and will appeal to young and old alike, and even more so to those who have already seen the previous opuses.
