Released in 2022, Maison de Retraite is a comedy directed by Thomas Gilou, best known for his La Vérité si je mens! trilogy. The film stars Kev Adams(Les Profs, Alad'2) as Milann, a down-on-his-luck thirty-something forced to serve his sentence in a retirement home. Opposite him, a host of French film stars, including Gérard Depardieu(Cyrano de Bergerac), Daniel Prévost(Le Dîner de Cons) and Liliane Rovère(Dix Pour Cent), make up a band of retirees who will turn the main character's life upside down. This comedy skilfully plays on generational discrepancies and comical situations, while tackling more serious subjects such as elder abuse.
At the age of 30, Milann found himself up against the law and, to avoid prison, was forced to perform 300 hours of community service at a retirement home, Les Mimosas. From the moment he arrives, Milann is in for a real ordeal. Between the capricious residents and the unmanageable tasks, his adaptation is difficult. Eventually, however, he makes friends with some of the residents, including a close-knit group of seven inseparable friends, each with their own unique outlook on life. Little by little, Milann discovers that the nursing home is exploiting its residents, and he decides to organize a great escape to save them from this unjust situation. But the mission turns out to be far more complicated than he imagined...
