We've been waiting for this episode of The Mandalorian, as generous in action as in contribution to the lore. Maybe we finally found it with this episode 7. It's a pity that season 3 ends with the next episode.
The previous one had reunited all the Mandalorians, now it's time to take back Mandalore, their homeland. But of course, this is the moment that Moff Gideon, the antagonist of the series played by Giancarlo Esposito, chose to make his big comeback. We had not seen him all season, his shadow was however omnipresent, and if his outfit reminding a little too much Darth Vader is ridiculous, the actor has not lost his superb. It is understandable that he is used to the roles of villains, so much he is chilling.
This confrontation between Mandalorians and Empire loyalists is what fans of the series have been waiting for. On the one hand, it finally allows this season 3 to have the beautiful action scenes it deserves. Above all, it fits perfectly into the big story and directly prepares the events of episodes VII to IX of Star Wars. So much so that familiar faces (and names) can be discovered there.
The series finally allows itself to let go behind the camera, and it feels good. Rick Famuyiwa may have directed several episodes of The Mandalorian, but there are still some unseen images. It's not Oscar-worthy directing, of course, but we can marvel at the many iconic and generous shots.
For the first time, we are curious to discover what the last episode of The Mandalorian will be. So see you next Wednesday!
