The Sympathiser : Robert Downey Jr. is unrecognizable in Park Chan-Wook's series

If he is best known for his film works, Park Chan-Wook has already distinguished himself on the small screen, with The Little Drummer Girl, in 2018. The filmmaker behind Old Boy, Mademoiselle or Decision to Leave returns with The Sympathiser, a series produced by Robert Downey Jr. signed by HBO. It is expected for 2024 on HBO Max and Amazon Prime's Warner Pass in France.

The trailer of The Sympathiser

The series is adapted from the 2016 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Sympathiser by Viet Thanh Nguyen. As can be seen in the trailer, Robert Downey Jr. who is also a producer of the show, plays several characters, each more different than the other. There are at least four in this first trailer. Enough to intrigue! However, he is not the main character of The Sympathiser, this role belongs to Hoa Xuande, seen in Cowboy Bebop.
