The detective comedy Le Secret de Sherlock Holmes runs at Café de la Gare until September 12, 2024! The play is not a retelling of one of novelist Arthur Conan Doyle's brilliant stories, but a new creation set in the world of Sherlock Holmes, created by Christian Chevallier and Christophe Guillon .
Adetective comedy, but nonetheless suitable for young and old alike, The Secret of Sherlock Holmes tells the story of the meeting between detective Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, who formed one of the best-known literary duo of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The story takes place in London in 1881. Sherlock is not yet famous, and Doctor Watson has just returned from Afghanistan. While looking for an apartment, he is contacted by Inspector Lestrade of Scotland, regarding a body discovered on the banks of the Thames. This sinister case marks the first meeting between Sherlock and Watson, to be discovered within the walls of the Café de la Gare, and the beginning of many investigations...
Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of the Sherlock Holmes character and his world, left his mark on the world of literature, but not only. Even today, the famous detective can be found everywhere: on television, with the series Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch, in the cinema with Robert Downey Jr., and in the theater with Le Secret de Sherlock Holmes performed at the Café de la Gare. The character continues to fascinate today's generations.
Christophe Guillaun, co-author of the play, also directs, plunging the audience into late 19th-century England. In a very "British" atmosphere, the audience follows a fast-paced investigation packed with humor and suspense. Created in 2019, Le Secret de Sherlock Holmes has been a huge success ever since, with over 500,000 spectators, and won the 2021 Polar award for Best Theatrical Show in Cognac. It returns to the Café de la Gare in the 4th arrondissement of Paris until September 12, 2024! An opportunity to see a play between two Paris 2024 Olympic Games events.
