The Comédie-Française invites theater lovers to rediscover one of the major works of the French dramatic repertoire: Paul Claudel 'sLe Soulier de Satin (The Satin Slipper) from December 21 to April 13, 2025. Written at the beginning of the 20th century, this theatrical masterpiece explores human passions and divine aspirations through an epic tale, rich in poetry and symbolism.

Le Soulier de Satin highlights the forbidden relationship between Doña Prouhèze and Don Rodrigue, two characters bound by absolute love but constrained by earthly duties. Through four acts (called "journées"), Paul Claudel takes the spectator on a journey where political intrigue, maritime adventure and metaphysical meditation intersect, and this time the journey begins at the Comédie-Française .

Le Soulier de Satin, known for its exceptional length and density, represents a challenge for both actors and spectators. But at the Comédie-Française,Éric Ruf 's staging should make this work sublime, thanks to an inventive scenography and the acting skills of the company's actors.

The play lasts around 7 hours (3pm-11.30pm) and is divided into two parts: 3pm-6.30pm (with an intermission) 8pm-11.30pm break (with an intermission). Paul Claudel'sLe Soulier de Satin at the Comédie-Française promises to be an unmissable event for fans of belles lettres and bold staging.
