Since its triumph at the Molières in 2023, Oublie-moi has been a fixture in Parisian theaters . The love story is now scheduled to run at Théâtre La Bruyère in the 9th arrondissement until December 29, 2024. A must-see play, where you'll have to be ready to go from laughter to tears.
Oublie-moi tells a love story, as beautiful as it is hard, between Jeanne and Arthur. Transported into the intimacy of a couple experiencing tragedy, the audience is treated to a breath of fresh air, where emotion is hard to contain. Adapted from Matthew Seager's In Other Words , the award-winning play features alternating performances at Théâtre La Bruyère by its authors Marie-Julie Baup (Le Prénom at the theater, the Je te promets series...) and Thierry Lopez (Une heure de tranquillité) .
The writing duo won four Molières at the Molières 2023: for private theater, for directing a private theater show for their joint work, as well as for actress in a private theater show for Marie-Julie Baup, and for actor in a private theater show for Thierry Lopez. These awards are the first for both authors, Thierry Lopez having also been nominated in 2016 and 2019, as well as Marie-Julie Baup, nominated in 2005 and 2014. The show was first performed at the Théâtre du Petit Saint Martin in Paris, then at the Théâtre la Bruyère from September 2023.
Oublie-moi runs until December 29, 2024 at Théâtre La Bruyère .
Our review:
A must-see play! Oublie-moi is the must-see play of 2023, but also of 2024. The audience is confronted with a tragic love story between Jeanne and Arthur. The actors take the audience through a real emotional rollercoaster. The spectator is quickly caught up in the story, so simple and beautiful at the start, and then disheartened... Get your handkerchiefs ready, because even the least sensitive will end up shedding a tear. Marie-Julie Baup and Thierry Lopez 's play gives you faith in love as much as it scares you about the reality of life. It leaves you shattered.
The actors play to perfection, and the chemistry on stage is palpable. The sober staging, strong music and lighting effects plunge the audience into the world of the play, and they don't let go of the story until the curtain comes down. A more than successful gamble for the author duo, and a must-see at the theater today.
