Mélody Mourey's latest creation,Big Mother, is set against the backdrop of a major political scandal in the United States, which leads a team of journalists from "New York Investigation" into a complex investigation. A victim of its own success, the play has been extended until February 28, 2025.
The story begins with a scandal involving the President of the United States, shaking up the editorial staff of "New York Investigation". Julia Robinson, one of the journalists, is particularly affected when, during a trial, she thinks she recognizes her former companion, presumed dead four years earlier, in the dock. This disturbing coincidence launches Julia and her team on an investigation that brings them face to face with a program of mass manipulation on an unprecedented scale. Their journey brings them face to face with the biggest scandal since Watergate, threatening both democracy and their own safety.
Mélody Mourey's direction, praised for its dynamism and ability to skilfully blend theater, cinema and TV series, creates a show that promises to be captivating. The actors, alternating between Patrick Blandin, David Marchal, Ariane Brousse, Laetitia Vercken, Benoît Cauden, Axel Huet and others, embody a diversity of characters in this story of disinformation, conspiracy theories and manipulation.
Mélody Mourey, renowned for her previous works such as Les Crapauds fous and La Course des géants, continues to establish herself as a significant voice in contemporary theater with"Big Mother". Her talent for weaving captivating narratives that resonate deeply with current concerns is evident in this play, which has no shortage of humor despite its serious subject matter.
