How about taking a step back in time to understand history? That's what Théâtre Lucernaire is proposing with Lumière! which runs until March 2, 2025. The play revisits the history of the invention of electricity: Edison, Westinghouse, Tesla; we meet the great names who changed history.

Take a step back in time with the Lumière! play, which plunges us into 1878 New York, in the race to invent electricity. A victim of its own success, the play has been extended until March 2, 2025! At the Théâtre Lucernaire , spectators will be reunited with the great figures who changed the course of history, such as Edison, Westinghouse and Tesla!

Lumières! follows the story of the Edison couple as they devote themselves body and soul to creating world-changing innovations. Their dream? To dominate electricity and light up the entire planet. But alongside them, the brilliant and eccentric Nikola Tesla, and the formidable Westinghouse duo, are also desperate to shape humanity's luminous future. Fearing he's no longer living up to his reputation, Edison embarks on a relentless battle for victory, ready to explore the shadows and surpass the limits of the imaginable in the name of progress.

Lumière! tells the story of the great rivalry between the three protagonists. In the 1880s, Edison, famous for inventing the electric light bulb, developed direct current to power homes and businesses. However, Tesla proposed an alternative: alternating current, more efficient over long distances. Aware of the advantages of this technology, Westinghouse joined forces with Tesla to promote alternating current, leading to a "war of currents" between the three men. A race to invent electricity accessible to all, directed by Maxence Gaillard from a text by Stéphane Landowski.
