Les Crapauds fous tells the incredible true story ofEugène Lazwoski and Stanislaw Matulewicz, two Polish doctors who saved thousands of lives during the Second World War. Mélody Mourey 's play takes you back to 1990, when a psychology student visits Stanislaw Matulewicz to find out more about his grandfather, Eugène Lazwoski. You're plunged into 1940, in Rozwadów, Poland. Stanislaw Matulewicz and Eugène Lazwoskidevise a stratagem to save the inhabitants from deportation, but they'll have to be inventive to appease the Nazis' suspicions.
An energetic play featuring some twenty characters, between 1940 and 1990. Melody Mourey has highlighted the enormous risks taken by her two Polish doctors, in the magnificent Théâtre de la Renaissance. Les Crapauds fous should leave you with no time to breathe, as you are transported in a fast-paced staging, between emotions and laughter.
While Les Crapauds fous is being performed at the Théâtre de la Renaissance, Mélody Mourey is also the author of Big Mother, a political thriller with a link to current events, which has been a great success since its first performance and is still on at the Théâtre des Béliers in Paris's 18th arrondissement.
Trained at the Toulon Conservatoire and then at the Cours Simon a few years later in Paris, she wrote her first play Terminus in 2016. If you like suspense, you won't be bored by Melody Mourey 's plays, which have frantic rhythms backed up by fast-paced, highly effective staging.
