14 years after her last feature, Donnant, Donnant, Isabelle Mergault returns to directing with Des Mains en Or, her fifth film. Scheduled for release on June 7.
And for this comedy about the friendship between a writer and a healer, the filmmaker has surrounded herself with some very fine names: Lambert Wilson, Josiane Balasko and Sylvie Testud are all part of the Golden Hands cast.
Philippe, a future academician, is a famous writer. With a wife who's a surgeon and a circle of high-profile friends, his life would be a perfect bliss if he didn't suffer from a terrible backache that plagues his existence. But when Philippe meets the incredible Martha of the Healing Hands, his back pain is about to subside. He becomes addicted to Martha's hands, which soothe him more than any painkiller. Between these two characters, an amazing friendship develops, with the opportunity for them to finally seize the best that life has to offer.
