The Théâtre des Nouveautés has announced a star-studded program for 2024, with the return to the stage of iconic TV host and comedian Jean-Luc Reichmann, in a comedy entitled Le Bracelet.
In writing this play, renowned comedian and screenwriter Isabelle Mergault draws on her undeniable talent for storytelling. The plot revolves around André, who after 18 years in prison, evokes acomplex and conflicted return to a tense family environment.
André, now wearing an electronic bracelet, returns to a home where his welcome is far from warm. His wife, deeply uncomfortable with his presence, his mother-in-law, whose intrusive attitude adds to the tension, and his 20-year-old daughter, who refuses to recognize him as her father, paint a picture of a family fraught with resentment and unspoken issues .
The question of André's guilt or innocence remains a central mystery of the play. Were his years of imprisonment deserved, or is he the product of a judicial misunderstanding? The vagueness surrounding his past adds a layer of ambiguity to the story. One of his long-time accomplices, Serge Postigo, takes the reins as director, promising the audience a show full of humor and emotion.
