The Théâtre du Marais, now located in the heart of the Marais at 37 rue Volta, offers comedy, comedy and children's shows. Although its name has always been the same, the theater we know today dates back to 2015 .
Inaugurated in 1637, the Théâtre du Marais changed addresses several times in the Marais (rue de la Poterie, rue Vieille du Temple then rue Michel le Comte) and was closed on the death of Molière by order of King Louis XIV. The Théâtre du Marais was not reborn until 1790, on rue Culture Sainte-Catherine. The playwright Beaumarchais became the theater's cult author, his plays being performed in rapid succession. Unfortunately, the theater was forced to close its doors in 1807 for financial reasons, and did not reopen until 1976, at 37 rue Volta, under the direction of Jacques Mauclair. The artistic venue was taken over in May 2020 by the Cours Florent and then by Hervé Compan, the theater's current Director.
The Théâtre du Marais offers a program focused on humor. You can enjoy a wide range of one-man shows andchildren's shows on weekend afternoons. The theater is open 7 days a week. The theater's 90-seat auditorium is ideal for discovering new comedy talent.
The Théâtre du Marais awaits you at 37 rue Volta, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.
