After winning the hearts of audiences in 2015, Vice-Versa (original title Inside Out) returns with a promising sequel. Directed by Kelsey Mann and scripted by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, Vice-Versa 2 picks up the story of Riley, now a teenager, and explores the emotional upheavals associated with this period of transition. Released in cinemas on June 19, 2024, the animated family comedy will be available on VOD for purchase from October 17, 2024, then for rental from October 31. This new adventure promises to take young and old into the twists and turns of human emotions, as new characters make their appearance at headquarters.
In Vice-Versa 2, Riley is now a freshly graduated teenager, a crucial moment that brings major changes to her inner world. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, which have so far successfully managed her emotions, find themselves faced with a new challenge: the arrival ofAnxiety, an unexpected emotion that upsets the well-established balance. But Anxiety may not be the only new arrival... This film explores the complex emotional challenges of adolescence, an age when everything seems to be turned upside down, both in reality and in Riley's headquarters.
Vice-Versa 2 is aimed at a broad family audience, from young children to teenagers, as well as adults who will nostalgically rediscover Riley's world. The film tackles universal themes such as personal growth and the challenges of adolescence, while retaining the lightness and humor that made the first opus such a success. This second installment adds a new dimension by introducing more complex emotions, such asAnxiety, and opens the way to a reflection on the emotions of adult life. Those who enjoyed films such as Soul or Ralph's Worlds will no doubt appreciate this new exploration of the mind's emotional mechanisms.
Vice-Versa 2 offers a touching and entertaining new perspective on human emotions, with the arrival of Anxiety and other never-before-seen emotions. This second opus, just as funny and moving as the first, is available on VOD from October 17, 2024 for purchase, and October 31 for rental. Get ready to immerse yourself in Riley's colorful and inventive world of emotions, an adventure that will appeal to the whole family.
Our review of Vice Versa 2 (2024):
Riley is 13 and the teenager she's becoming is faced with a cocktail of emotions. The icing on the cake is puberty, and with it the need to assert herself, to belong to a group, to feel loved... But also, to be like the others. The emotions of the little girl Riley used to be are no longer enough: now Anxiety, Boredom, Embarrassment and Envy are among the emotions at the helm in the young girl's brain, influencing her daily life as a young ice hockey athlete.
Overwhelmed, the old emotions - Anger, Fear, Joy, Sadness and Disgust - are totally outdated and quickly replaced by the new ones. Like the first opus, this new Vice-Versa fulfills all its promises, with colorful, spot-on characters and a relevant storyline, all set during the most sensitive period in a child's development: adolescence. As a family, we're betting that parents will be laughing as hard as the kids: Pixar Studios has produced a refreshing, frankly funny feature film that's a must-see even for the little ones!
