In Et plus si Affinités, Olivier Ducray and Wilfried Meance orchestrate a dramatic comedy that's already shaping up to be captivating. Winner of 4 awards at the Festival International du Film de Comédie de l'Alpe d'Huez, it examines the ups and downs of married life. Starring Isabelle Carré and Bernard Campan, the film will be (re)released on DVD and VOD on August 7, 2024.
The synopsis features Xavier and Sophie, played respectively by Bernard Campan and Isabelle Carré, a couple worn down by twenty-five years of married life. Their already strained daily life is put to the test when they invite their neighbors, Adèle and Alban, a promiscuous couple who are very much in love, to dinner. This does not fail to irritate Xavier, not least because of their lack of discretion. This encounter forces Xavier and Sophie to face up to their own reality, culminating in an indecent proposal.
Isabelle Carré, a renowned actress known for her roles in works such as Se souvenir des belles choses and Les Émotifs anonymes, where she captivated audiences with her talent and sensitivity. Bernard Campan, meanwhile, is famous for his membership of the comedy trio Les Inconnus, before making his mark in touching dramatic roles such as Le Coût de la vie and Les Trois Frères.
Et plus si Affinités promises a profound exploration of human relationships, marked by the contrast between the monotony of everyday life and buried desires. Ducray and Meance's staging should offer both a tender and acerbic look at the compromises and joys of life as a couple, inviting spectators to reflect on their own conception of love and the couple.
