A fashionable sport in recent years, rock climbing is a great chance for a medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, thanks in particular to climber Oriane Bertone, a young Reunionese aged just 19, already qualified and a rising star in the discipline internationally. This Monday, May 27, 2024, an exclusive evening screening at the Grand Rex presents to the general public the documentary "The Ascent", directed by Thibault Pailler and Thomas Laporte, which traces her inspiring beginnings.
From moments of doubt to the sacrifices of top-level sport, via family dynamics and the tumult of adolescence, the documentary tells the story of this young girl of enormous potential, with poignant testimonials from those close to her who have accompanied her on this adventure, which is far from over.
The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the bouldering world vice-champion and guests such as climbing legend Jacky Godoffe, climber Alban Levier and Nicolas Januel, her trainer, as well as the film team, who have plenty of anecdotes up their sleeves.
