Climbing enthusiasts are becoming more and more numerous in Paris, as the climbing scene has boomed in recent years. However, it's not easy to find a central climbing gym in the capital, as these are generally located in the arrondissements that have large enough spaces on the outskirts of Paris, or even in neighboring communes.
But that was before the opening ofArkose Strasbourg Saint-Denis, located between the Grands Boulevards and the Gare de l'Est. After Nation and Didot, the company has now taken over the 10th arrondissement of Paris, continuing its Parisian expansion, and climbers are delighted!
Inaugurated in a former garage on rue d'Enghien and open daily from 7 a.m. to midnight without interruption, Arkose Strasbourg Saint-Denis boasts over 200 constantly renewed boulders, so you can progress with every session. Experienced climbers and professionals are of course welcome, but beginners and even families are also welcome.
For this, there's nothing like taking an introductory course - considered essential for safe climbing - with a Team Arkose instructor , full of good advice and necessary warnings. Families, meanwhile, are entitled to their own climbing room for the little ones, so that children aged 3 to 12 can learn to climb safely and confidently.
Located on two levels, the two climbing gyms at Arkose Strasbourg Saint-Denis - admittedly smaller than at less central or suburban Arkoses - allow you to train and challenge yourself according to your level, by following the colors. Yellow, green, blue, red, even black or purple for the most professional and courageous, you're on your own!
Before the session, don't forget to warm up in the basement, in the specially equipped rooms (elastics, etc.). And after the effort, the comfort! For that, head for the Arkose Strasbourg Saint-Denis canteen, bathed in natural light thanks to its attractive glass roof.
The cuisine here is local and responsible, offering healthy, tasty dishes made from local produce. Behind the menu is chef Baptiste Defosse, who trained in Montreal before opening his own restaurant there. After a stint at the Table du Clarance in Lille, he has now created a menu for Arkose that combines delicious vegetarian options, such as the grilled halloumi burger (16€), with heart-warming large plates, such as spätzles with tarragon (19€) and sautéed zucchinis with garlic. Accompanied by a large glass of house juice (6.50€) or an artisanal beer, we're all set!
Arkose Strasbourg Saint-Denis, like its Paris and Ile-de-France counterparts, also offers introductory climbing courses during the school vacations, and a yoga studio for enthusiasts!
