Sad news for movie fans... Benoît Allemane, famous film voice actor and French voice of Morgan Freeman, passed away on January 5, 2025 at the age of 82. The announcement was made on social networks by director Lionel Auguste, a friend of the actor:"Benoît Allemane, a friend I shared with many, many people, passed away last night. He had just celebrated his 82nd birthday", we read on Facebook.
At the age of 16, he began acting as an amateur before entering theÉcole nationale du théâtre de Strasbourg, where he perfected his art over a period of three years. His theatrical career is rich, with over forty plays to his credit, playing a variety of roles under the direction of renowned directors such as Robert Hossein and Peter Ustinov.
However, it's in dubbing that Benoît Allemane has left his indelible mark. He is best known as the regular French voice of American actor Morgan Freeman, whom he has dubbed in the majority of his appearances since the 1992 film Impitoyable. His deep, warm voice has also brought to life such iconic characters as Baloo in Super Baloo, Zeus in Disney's Hercules, and Charlie the Rooster in Looney Tunes.
In addition to dubbing, Benoît Allemane has lent his voice to numerous documentaries, commercials and video games, making him a fixture on the French audiovisual scene. He has also taken part in TV shows, notably"Les Guignols de l'info" on Canal+, and hosted radio programs on RMC.
