We loved his first film unveiled at Critics' Week in 2017 - Petit Paysan, which starred Swann Arlaud as a farmer ready to do anything to save his animals. This year, Hubert Charuel returns to Cannes 2025 with a new feature, his second: Météors.
This time, the French director joins the official selection, on the Un Certain Regard side, with Paul Kircher, Idir Azougli and Salif Cissé in the cast. And once again, Hubert Charuel sets out to represent populations that are not as urban as others, his film taking place in France's 'diagonal of the void'.
It's a safe bet that this new film will be as successful at Cannes as Petit Paysan.
Meteors will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The release date in French cinemas is not yet known.
Synopsis: Diagonal of emptiness. Mika and Dan have many dreams but little luck. After another failed plan by Dan, they find themselves working for Tony, their best friend, who has become the king of construction. Mika and Dan have to get out of here, save each other, save themselves.
