2023 is no exception to the Swedish Institute' s back-to-school tradition: an evening of open-air cinema to enjoy the last breaths of summer heat. This year, on September 1 at 9pm in the Institut's gardens, we'll be screening Rojda Sekersöz's first film, Beyond Dreams.
In this 2017 film, we discover the daily life of Mirja, a member of a girl gang who must find a job or find herself on the street. But her efforts to successfully integrate into society mean she must also accept betraying her friends and their dreams. The film has been widely acclaimed in Sweden and France, where it won the Prix France Télévision for Best Film at the Créteil International Women's Film Festival.
The screening is free and open to all from 8.15pm, subject to availability! Please note that in the event of rain, the screening will be cancelled. Before the film starts, the FIKA pop-up-café offers snacks and drinks.
