The gardens of the Musée du Quai Branly become an open-air cinema for the summer season. With a program centered on the legendary Studio Ghibli, we immerse ourselves in the masterpieces ofJapanese animation from July 13 to August 20, 2023.
The event is marked by the exhibition of the tapestry "Ashitaka relieves his demonic wound", created by the Cité internationale de la tapisserie d'Aubusson in collaboration with Studio Ghibli. The piece, inspired byHayao Miyazaki's film Princesse Mononoké, is on display in the museum's lobby.
The program of this film cycle celebrates not only Studio Ghibli mainstays Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, but also other notable names in Japanese animation, from studios such as Kyoto Animation, Production I.G, Signal.MD.
The event provides a forum for the ecological issues addressed in the works of Miyazaki andHiromasa Yonebayashi. They address contemporary issues such as rural transformation, urbanization, human responsibility and the role of non-humans.
