Closed since 2018 for renovation, La Géode, the famous spherical cinema in the Parc de la Villette, is preparing to welcome the public back on December 18, 2024. La Géode, inaugurated in 1985, is one of the architectural gems of north-eastern Paris. Designed by architect Adrien Fainsilber, its 36-meter-diameter spherical structure, covered with 6433 steel triangles, harmoniously reflects the verdant surroundings of the Parc de la Villette. Located in the immediate vicinity of the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie, it has been a fixture on the Paris cultural scene for almost forty years.
Inside, the room is just as impressive. Its giant 1,000 m² screen, tilted at 27° for total immersion, covers almost the entire hemispherical room. Thanks to this atypical architecture, spectators have the sensation of plunging into the heart of the images and becoming an integral part of the film.
