Directed by Paul King and featuring the voices of Guillaume Gallienne and Ben Whishaw, Paddington recounts the adventures of a lovable Peruvian bear in London. An animated family film full of tenderness and humor.

Directed by Paul King, Paddington is a family film combining animation and live action that captured the hearts of moviegoers right from the start. Inspired by Michael Bond's famous children's books, the film follows the adventures of Paddington, a young bear from Peru in search of a new home in London.

In this film adaptation, Ben Whishaw lends his voice to the character of Paddington in the original version, while in France it's Guillaume Gallienne who brings all his warmth and humor to the character. The cast also includes actors such as Hugh Bonneville, known for his role in Downton Abbey, and Sally Hawkins(The Shape of Water).

Where and when can you see Paddington in France?

Paddington will be broadcast on Disney+ from January 24, 2025 and is already available on Canal+.

Synopsis: Paddington tells the story of a young Peruvian bear freshly arrived in London, in search of a home and a better life. He soon realizes that the city of his dreams is not as welcoming as he thought. Luckily, he meets the Brown family and gradually becomes a fully-fledged member.

Paddington is aimed at family audiences aged 8 and over. With its blend of innocent humor, hilarious situations and heartfelt emotion, the film will appeal to children and adults alike. The main character's charm, combined with the film's meticulous direction and warm art direction, make this a cinematic experience to share with the whole family.

Fans of films such as Peter Rabbit and The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh will find a similar atmosphere, combining adventure, humor and a touch of magic.

What sets Paddington apart from other family films is its central character, a bear who is at once naïve, courageous and terribly endearing. The screenplay, written by Paul King, manages to tackle universal themes such as acceptance of others, the importance of family and welcoming strangers, while remaining accessible to younger viewers. The film also combines successful special effects to bring Paddington to life, making every interaction between the animated bear and the real actors fluid and believable.

With its polished direction, charming humor and universal themes, Paddington remains a classic of modern family cinema. Whether for a first discovery or a nostalgic viewing, the film promises a warm and entertaining time for all ages.

Our opinion of Paddington:

Paddington is in luck: this legendary bear, famous for many years in England, finally arrives in France, enhanced by the voice of Guillaume Gallienne. The actor brings a delicate touch of frivolity to the clumsy little bear who loves orange marmalade. He makes us laugh and, above all, smile: his sophisticated voice adopts a playful tone that appeals to young and old alike.

Paddington is an enthusiastic film, which adopts the codes of the "strange new guest adopted by an adorable family" genre ( Stuart Little comes to mind) while remaining fresh, thanks to some very funny scene-sketches. The world is romantic and colorful: in a large London house as we fantasize about them, the daily life of a small, endearing family unfolds, and Paddington tries to fit in. The setting is warm and welcoming, and so are the characters: the father is a former hippie turned insurance agent, the mother is a light-hearted artist, the young daughter is in the throes of adolescence, and the little boy is fascinated by space and the stars.

Paddington Bear is utterly charming: the little gourmand always hides a marmalade sandwich in his hat (which will earn him the jealousy of a dozen insistent pigeons!). He'll encounter many difficulties in the Western world: he'll meet a nasty fur-loving woman, a sort of new Cruella from Hell, played by Nicole Kidman... He'll also get into a lot of mischief, since he's so unsuited to the ways of humans.

So, with its twists and turns, laughter and warm atmosphere, this film has everything to appeal to children, even the very young. A great family outing!
