Hogwarts Legacy is full of mysteries! And PC, PS5 and Xbox Series gamers won't tell you otherwise, as they've all been working hard to unearth the game's secrets since its release on February 10, May 5 for PS4 and Xbox One owners, and November 14, 2023 for Nintendo Switch owners.
And for those still wandering around Hogwarts, there are three secret areas to discover within the castle itself. If you can't find them, or solve the riddles that give access to them, the editors at Sortiraparis can help you out by giving you the keys to how to get there, and how to retrieve the contents of the chests located there. So how do you get there? We'll tell you all about it!
If you've progressed a little further in the game and unlocked a couple of spells, you've undoubtedly had the opportunity to visit the Clock Tower, its courtyard and even the infirmary. Places that are virtually identical to those in the films, and whichHarry Potter fans may well have enjoyed visiting once again. To access the floors of the Clock Tower, you need to have progressed a little in the story, and have learned the Glacius and Alohomora spells.
If you've made it this far, start by heading to the foot of the Clock Tower, where Lucan Brattleby awaits you for his "not-so-secret" dueling club. Above your head, you can admire the giant clock pendulum you know from the movies. Observe the horizontal bar with four large medallions. On each medallion is a symbol (you can climb the tower to see them better), reproduced on the pendulum.
Each symbol corresponds to a barred door scattered throughout the tower. The first is at the foot of the tower, at the top of the three steps to your left if you're facing the large alcove that gives access to the courtyard, and to your right if you're facing the wall.
Turn to face the large alcove that provides access to the courtyard, point your wand at the first symbol on the left, wait until the pendulum reaches the medallion/symbol and cast Glacius. If you cast the spell at the right time and correctly, the door to your left should have opened. It's a broom cupboard containing a safe.
Repeat the same operation opposite each other medallion to open the other doors. Note that once the chosen door has been opened and the loot recovered, you'll need to melt the ice around the pendulum to move on to the next door, using a fire spell such as Incendio if you're within close range of the pendulum, otherwise Confringo.
The door corresponding to the second medallion from the left is on the second floor. To reach it, open the padlocked door just opposite where you opened the first door, the one to the left of the large alcove overlooking the courtyard. Go up to the second floor and, once you've reached the landing, turn left at the far end to find the other door. Note that you'll need to cast the Disillusionment spell to open the chest.
The door corresponding to the third medallion is on the floor above. Before going up again, remember to thaw the pendulum, then freeze it again on the third symbol. Once you've reached the landing on the floor above, if you cast the spell at the right time, the third door should be open. Head to the right, then down the few steps to enter the room and retrieve the loot from the chest.
Finally, the door corresponding to the fourth medallion is located halfway between this floor and the next. Once the pendulum has stopped in front of the fourth medallion, climb the two flights of steps and take the door on your left. The unlocked door is directly opposite. Take this second door and collect the loot.
To access this secret area, go to the viaduct courtyard via the cheminette flames (flag: the Great Hall).
From here, walk straight ahead to the bridge.
At the end of the bridge is a kind of golden manhole cover with four symbols and four corresponding numbers. This is your gateway to the secret zone, which lies beneath the bridge.
On either side of the bridge are four torches, with a symbol corresponding to those of the "manhole", for want of a better term, and four numbers on a rotating device. As you can see, you'll need to turn each torch to match the number to the symbol, and thus open the golden mouth. To do this, before turning the device, you'll need to light the torches with Incendio or Confringo.
Once you've done that, climb down the ladder, through the mouth and collect the prize!
To access the last secret area, you'll need to go to the Trophy Room, after you've completed the Nahm challenge. This is located at the very top of the Grand Staircase. First of all, you'll need to unlock level 3 of the Alohomora spell by collecting the Demiguise statues to give to the concierge. The aim is to retrieve a key to open a screen door opposite the manager's office.
Go right at the end of the corridor, then up the stairs. At the top, follow the winding corridor, then the flight of stairs again. Follow the path to the right, then climb the spiral staircase. You'll need the password to the director's office, which you'll pick up during a mission involving polynectar...
Go through the door. On the right, as you go up the corridor, you'll find the secret room you need to open, but you don't yet have the key. Turn left and you'll find yourself face to face with the entrance to the manager's office.
Once inside the office, head for the second door on the left, then open it with Alohomora.
You'll arrive outside on a balcony. Climb the stairs and enter the room at the top.
You'll find the key there. Take it and turn back. Once out of the manager's office, go straight ahead. You'll find yourself in front of this door.
Open the lock. You've found the secret room. It contains the book of enrollments for the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A book that has the ability to detect incipient magic in future students, before they enroll at Hogwarts.
Hogwarts Legacy now holds no secrets for you! Go to and pick up your wands!
