In Hogwarts Legacy, opening locked doors is no mean feat... And with good reason: you don't have access to the spell that unlocks doors and chests, Alohomora, at the start of the game. And once you've acquired this spell, the task becomes even more complicated, as it comprises different levels, allowing you to open only some of the locks.
But let's start at the beginning: you learn this spell during a quest in the main story, thanks to the Hogwarts janitor, Mr. Galdwin Moon. Once you've completed the mission, the Concierge suggests that you improve its use by bringing him statues of Demiguise. You must have come across these statues long before you crossed Mr. Moon's path, since they represent the magical creature discovered in Fantastic Beasts (a kind of monkey, to put it mildly), holding a blue moon in its arms. So where to find these statues? How can you find them easily? Here are a few tips...
Finding the first Demiguise statues in Hogwarts Legacy isn't exactly rocket science... You'll have to scour Hogwarts castle in search of the coveted sesame. Statues you can only retrieve at nightfall, making the task even more arduous. To help you on your way, if you happen to come across one of these statues, your character will give you a clear signal. So don't hesitate to search the surrounding area for the statues.
And don't hesitate to make small talk with Mr. Moon, who will explain that the statues should be in the places where he hangs out the most... To find them quickly, start by opening the padlocked doors with Alohomora. You should find a few.
You can also rummage through classrooms and points of interest, which are full of surprises: there's a statue in Professor Fig's office, in the magic theory room (you can take note of this), another in the library's storeroom, and so on. If you're just starting out (before learning Alohomora), don't hesitate to make a note of the location of these statues... Once you've learned the spell, you'll be able to pick them up more quickly, since you'll have come across them before.
Hogsmeade also abounds in Demiguise statues, which are easy enough to find since most of them are behind locked level 1 doors, which you can unlock once you've learned the spell. Also check out the empty houses without locks... The one to the north of town, on the other side of the river from the magic creature care store, contains one, as does the Tomes & Parchments store at the entrance to the village, right next to the salesman behind the counter (a little help here).
Note that the surrounding hamlets (and not just Hogsmeade) can be home to one or more statues. So it's off to explore and visit the various houses in these villages to complete your collection.
To upgrade the spell to level 2, you need to collect 9 statues, which you then hand over to the concierge. If you search Hogsmeade thoroughly, you should have enough, with one or two found at Hogwarts, to access this upgrade. Once you've got level 2 for Alohomora, simply search the houses in Hogsmeade with level 2 doors, or within the castle, to have a good chance of finding some. You'll need 13 to reach level 3.
In Hogwarts Legacy, if you're also trying to find out where to find nearby statues, or whether they're hidden behind a locked door, don't hesitate to use the Revelio spell to reveal their location. Statues are even easier to spot at night, as they glow with or without Revelio. Ideal for searching the Hogwarts labyrinth from top to bottom.
And if you really can't find them on your own, we've listed their locations for you:
Behind a level 1 door on the enclosure level, on the left as you face the castle.
Behind a level 1 door on the right, going up towards the teachers' table.
Astronomy wing, near the Metamorphosis room. With your back to the classroom, go straight ahead into the corridor, then take the first door on the left. Climb the few steps to the dragon-supported globe, then turn right and descend the stairs to the bottom. Take the door on your right, then go down all the stairs until you reach the Hogwarts tapestry and horse armour. Go down on your left to reach a large coiled dragon statue. Go right, first door on the left (locked by a level-1 padlock).
South wing, Clock Tower courtyard. On your right, go through the gate, then through the wooden door on your right. Cross the bridge, then the gate. Go down the few steps, then to the left. This is the men's toilet, surrounded by cords. The door is locked on level 2. Go to the back of the toilet and open the middle stall, which reveals a passage to a boiler room.
Library annex, Divination Room.
Library annex, Potions room. Go through the door in front of you, then left. Go down the stairs at the bottom, then through the door on your left. You're now in a long corridor filled with tapestries and paintings. You'll know this corridor if you've seen the films: it's the corridor in which Harry is surprised at night by Snape, Marauder's map in hand. Continue straight ahead until you find a locked door on your left.
L'Aile du Clocher, Magical Creature Training Room. Once teleported via Cheminnette's flames, turn around and enter the house. The door is locked on level 2. Go through the door to the far end.
Astronomy Wing, Metamorphosis Courtyard. Opposite you, on the right, is a large door. Go through it diagonally to the right (don't take the stairs). You'll come to a locked door. Open it, the statue is in front of you.
Enter the bar, the statue is in the back room.
The statue is on the right-hand counter.
West of Hogsmeade, open the door with Alohomora (level 1) and pick up the statue on the right.
Door locked on level 1.
On the third floor (stairs on the left as you enter), on a small table. Alohomora level 1 required to unlock door.
Behind the counter, in the back room next to the manager.
Not far from Ollivander's. Level 2 lock.
Level 2 lock. Go upstairs to find the statue.
Level 1 lock. Go upstairs.
Note that there is only one Demiguise statue per hamlet. Here are the hamlets where you can find a statue.
The hamlets aren't very big, so we'll leave you to explore to find the statues. Good luck!
