Twenty candles, scores of DLC, aliens, vampires, mermaids, horses, ghosts... The Sims 4 has come a long way since 2014: new worlds have sprung up, thousands of stories have been told, monumental castles and tiny houses have been built. And yet, despite this rich epic, the game still hides a few secrets.
You may not know it, but there are secret places in The Sims 4. Places that are only accessible if your Sims possess certain skills, and make the right choices. Thought you knew EA's game down to the last pixel? Then let yourself be tempted by this adventure, and set off in search of these mysterious sites.
Don't worry, we won't send you on this quest without help. We've put together a short guide to help you find these hidden spots with ease. A little bonus: if you own the Growing Up Together expansion pack, visiting these places gives you an exclusive badge at key moments in your Sims' life.
Two special places are hidden in the base game. First stop: Willow Creek, and more specifically the Cottage du Torticolis. At the edge of the grounds, you should find a strange, gnarled tree. For this tree to reveal its secrets, you'll need a little gardening skill.
Start by inspecting the tree twice, then water it three times. Then talk to it or compliment it twice. The roots should open up and make way for a path. During this exploration, you'll have to follow the noise, go down the stream, enter the mist and finally get to the clearing. Now you've unlocked a new place!
On to Oasis Spring for a second discovery. This time, it's a cave we're looking for, located in the Désert Bloom park. Please note that a level 10 crafting skill is required to complete this quest. On the rocks at the top left of the park is a cave whose entrance is blocked by planks. By forcing the opening, a path opens up.
When the options appear, make the following choices: take the wide path, use the ladder, walk on the ledge and go into the cave. A pleasant surprise awaits you!
The enchanted island of Sulani also hides a lovely secret spot. At the foot of the volcano, on the site ofa shipwreck, lies a grotto. By clicking on it, you'll initially have only one option: exploration. As you progress, you should unlock more activities, such as discovering natural wonders, or exploring the waters. Note that, unlike the previous two locations, this cave is a rabbit hole (i.e., a place that doesn't really exist, that you won't see). However, your Sims can bring back a few gifts from his expeditions.
Campers beware: your next vacation could bring you an interesting encounter. In the forest of Granite Falls lies a bramble bush. Come and explore it, and get ready to find out what's behind it. There are a number of choices available to you: whichever one you choose, choose the one that allows you to continue exploring. Eventually, you'll discover a secret part of the forest, home to some lovely waterfalls... And the hermit's house! If you cultivate a good relationship with the hermit, he may be able to give you a recipe for herbal medicine.
Get out your white coats, a career as a scientist awaits you. But be patient, as the alien world of Sixam can only be achieved through hard work. Climb the ladder, develop your rocketry skills, explore space... And build the wormhole generator, which you can turn into a space-time portal by clicking on it.
You can also choose the longer option of taking regular trips with the rocket. By installing a wormhole generator on your ship, you can travel by choosing the "go into the wormhole" option. The planet Sixam is yours to discover!
Bonus info: this place isn't hidden, but many players don't know it's accessible: the Brindleton Bay Lighthouse (Dogs and Cats) can be visited by taking a boat, moored in certain seaside districts. Click on one of these boats to reach Dead Grass Island and its sights.
Now all you have to do is launch your game and set off on your adventure.
