Here's a nice present, which should delight nostalgic fans and those who are (a little) older than 25. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, The Sims license has planned a number of celebrations, including a "Time Travel" event, which allows Sims 4 players to win iconic items from previous games.
Time travel - that's what's in store for us on January 31, 2025. Indeed, a rumor has appeared on social networks: EA could be bringing The Sims 1 and 2 back to market, to mark this special anniversary.

The first two installments of the saga have not been available for several years: with the rapid evolution of gaming media, the old titles were no longer compatible with electronic systems, and therefore could not be launched on a modern computer or console. EA and Maxis are therefore proposing a version adapted to today's PCs.
This rumour was launched by the American site Kotaku, which had detected several clues confirming this hypothesis, in the latest videos and messages published by The Sims. No need to prolong the suspense any longer: the rumor was true, and The Sims 1 and 2 are indeed back on PC!
On the last day of January, EA put three collections on sale on its app, Steam and Epic Games Store. Please note that these collections are only available for PCs (i.e. not for Macs or consoles), and the games are compatible with Windows 10/11.
As planned, players can purchase The Sims 1 with all its DLC (for 19.99 euros), The Sims 2 with its DLC (29.99 euros), or a third collection: The Sims 25th Anniversary Collection, which includes both games and their DLC, as well as mini kits for The Sims 4: Return of Grunge and Retro Look.
The first collection with The Sims 1 contains seven DLCs (It Changes Your Life, Surprise Party, And More..., On Vacation, Between Cats and Dogs, Superstar, Abracadabra), and as a bonus The Sims 4: Retro Look kit.
The second collection includes The Sims 2, eight add-ons (Academy, Nights of Madness, La Bonne Affaire, Animals & Cie, As the Seasons Go By, Bon Voyage, Quartier Libre, La vie en appartement) and nine kits (Holiday Party Pack, Family Fun, Glamour, Merry Christmas, Party Day, H&M Fashion, Everything for Teens, Kitchen & Bathroom Design, Dream Homes), plus the bonus The Sims 4: Grunge Returns.
Please note that these collections are not remasters: the quality of the graphics has not been improved and brought up to date, the games have simply been adapted to run on modern PC systems. So don't be surprised when you discover these very 2000s designs...
