Marvel Rivals, a free-to-play 6 vs. 6 team shooter developed by NetEase in collaboration with Marvel Games, has been waiting for you since December 6, 2024 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. Marvel Rivals offers confrontations in locations familiar to comic book fans, fromAsgard to the Tokyo of 2099. What sets this title apart from other games in the genre is its strategic dimension, offering the possibility of reshaping battlefields to players' advantage. The synergy between heroes opens the door to dynamic and innovative skill combinations, such as Rocket Raccoon riding Groot to increase his power, or the Hulk amplifying Iron Man's abilities with Gamma energy. This strategic approach renews the gaming experience with each game, offering depth and replayability.
As for the list of heroes available (or at least shown for the moment), here it is:
NetEase and Marvel' s ambition doesn't stop with the release of the game. Marvel Rivals is designed to evolve, with regular updates enriching the game universe with new heroes, new maps and new scenarios. Each season will bring its share of new features, gradually weaving together the narrative of this ever-expanding multiverse. The Marvel Rivals narrative, centered on the battle between Doctor Doom and his 2099 alter ego, also promises to immerse players in an adventure where heroes and villains must join forces to save the multiverse from imminent catastrophe.
Our review of Marvel Rivals:
While pvp shooters are a dime a dozen, what do we think of Marvel Rivals? At Sortiraparis, we've got mixed feelings about the game... Graphically speaking, there's nothing to say! The game is beautiful, and the DA chosen is assertive and consistent with the comic-book universe. An intelligent choice that works very well. Another good point: the voice interactions between the characters, which are welcome and well chosen.
As for gameplay, it's pretty standard for a shooter, with the exception of the characters' abilities, which differ according to their skills. For example, Doctor Strange will have more "abilities" than some (levitation, Seraphim shield, portal opening, ranged attack, etc.), than Scarlet Witch or The Punisher. But all have the same base: hand-to-hand attack, ranged attack and a specific attack.
The problem for us is handling: the characters are slow to move, and not very maneuverable. As a result, games start off a little too slowly. Fortunately, combat is dynamic, even if moving the characters around is impractical. Another sticking point is the lack of variety in the game modes, which are too classic, offering you the chance to take control points and escort vehicles.
A game that left us a little disappointed, but one that should please fans of the genre. We're not really into it, though. All that's left is for you to make up your own mind.
With this narrative ambition and drive for constant innovation, Marvel Rivals is positioned not only as a serious competitor to Overwatch, but also as an invitation to experience an unprecedented Marvel adventure. Ready to save the universe?
