Split Fiction, a co-op game developed by Hazelight Studios and published by EA, unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, awaits you from March 6, 2025 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. The game will also be available on Switch 2 when the console is released on June 5, 2025.

A new challenge awaits players: can you rise to it? It's not enough to survive the monsters and obstacles that stand in your way, you'll also need to be able to communicate and solve problems as a duo, without fighting...

Synopsis of Split Fiction:

" Experienceunforgettable moments as you journey through the different worlds of Split Fiction, a cooperative adventure game from the studio behind It Takes Two that pushes the boundaries of the genre. Play cooperatively locally, or via the Friend Pass."

From the creators of the acclaimed It Takes Two game comes Split Fiction, a new adventure for two. This time, we find ourselves in the shoes of two writers, immersed in their own stories. To save their creations from those who want to steal them, the two protagonists will have to work hand in hand to escape the many dangers that threaten them, and return to the real world.

Players take turns exploring fantasy and science-fiction worlds . They must learn to master the mechanics of each new tableau to advance - without leaving their teammate behind! Good news: with the Friend Pass, you can play with two people in a single game, by connecting online.

Our review of Split Fiction:

A software we were able to test, in a local duo. Graphically speaking, we're unfortunately not very convinced by the visual quality of the cinematics, which don't seem totally accomplished (lack of depth? Shadowing?...). Despite this, the gameplay is rather well done, graphically speaking. Overall, it's fine.

As for the story, the beginning leaves us a little disappointed, as the plot and objective are quickly dispatched, but the rest, and especially the dialogues, are particularly well written. The two main characters, Mio and Zoe, are each the other's counterpart without being clichés; in fact, they are quite complementary, both in personality and in their approach to adventure.

As far as gameplay is concerned, Split Fiction offers refreshingly innovative mechanics, even changing slightly depending on the world and levels. Quite simply, there's never a dull moment... In fact, there's a lot of fun to be had! This is also due to the sometimes (often?) unusual levels, which will leave you wondering what you've gotten yourself into. For example, the level where you play as two pigs, one spring-loaded and able to jump high, the other farting rainbows (yes, you read that right...), propelling you over long distances. A level that ends with you playing the role of two sausages, even going so far as to ask you to grill yourself on the barbecue to garnish a hot dog... You get the idea.

It's a game that requires a lot of communication, and that's its strength. And it's a game that will appeal to all those who like to play in pairs, as lovers, between brothers and sisters, with the kids or simply with your buddies. All you have to do is make up your own mind!
