The Hors limites festival opens the door to contemporaryliterature on the scale of a département, Seine-Saint-Denis, over a two-week period from March 15 to 30, 2024. Created by the department's library association, the literary festival will be held in some thirty towns in Seine-Saint-Denis, as well as in Paris, among numerous media libraries and partner venues.
More than 30 authors and artists will be present at some one hundred events: meetings, screenings, shows, musical readings, performances and workshops, all with the aim of promoting literature. The three weeks of festivities kick off on March 15 at 8pm, with the inauguration at Montreuil's Robert Desnos library. To close the festival, on the evening of March 30, a musical reading awaits the public at the Bagnolet media library.
On March 23, a literary tour with author Marie NDiaye will allow you to discover an author and his or her work in an original way, accompanying the author through various stages of the festival. This year, it's from Bobigny to Saint-Ouen, via Saint-Denis, and you'll also meet filmmaker Claire Denis.
Entirely free of charge, this festival highlights the work done by book professionals to promote literature, thanks to the crossover between different art forms, including cinema and live performance. It's an opportunity to rediscover the Seine-Saint-Denis region, which is undergoing radical change, through different eyes. Discover the full program on the festival website!
