Contemporary art lovers, head to the Salon d'Automne from October 23 to 27, 2024 for an extraordinary event. In existence since 1903, this historic art fair has been responsible for the emergence of artistic movements and major figures in contemporary art, such as Matisse and Guimard. Originally held on the Champs-Elysées, it has now left La Villette to return to the avenue in ephemeral pavilions between Place Clemenceau and Place de la Concorde.
This year, over the course of 5 days, some 1,000 astonishing works of art will be brought together in an area of 3,000 m2, with a special exhibition dedicated to Cabu, the great cartoonist who immortalized jazz scenes for 50 years, and a musical performance by the Hot Swing Orchestra that will get visitors swinging on Saturday, October 26 from 3pm to 8pm. On the program: art in all its diversity and originality, to discover even more incredible artists.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, the Salon d'Automne has sought to offer a fresh look at the way art is created, according to the different eras, and in opposition to traditional art. It has thus been a privileged witness to the avant-garde movements of Fauvism, Surrealism and Cubism. Rooted in this prestigious past, the show continues today to bring together artists from all over the world, of almost 50 different nationalities, as well as some 30,000 curious visitors.
No hierarchy is established between the different arts, allowing them to be exhibited with equal freedom, in 20 artistic sections (architecture, digital art, engraving, drawing, photography, sculpture, etc.).
