This first edition, free and open to all, will take place on June 29 and 30, 2024 on the Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, in the very heart of the artistic lung of Paris' most literary district.
Conceived by Carole Fernandez, the Salon will welcome 70 authors, including well-known names, new talents, fiction and non-fiction writers andchildren's authors.
It's an opportunity for the general public to discover a wide range of literary trends, and to soak up the poetry of this square facing the thousand-year-old bell tower ofSaint-Germain church.
In partnership with German-speaking institutions such as Les Deux Magots, Castel, Lipp and the bookshop L'Écume des Pages, this first Salon du livre is set to become a permanent fixture, promoting literature in Saint-Germain-des-Prés time and again.
The prestigious publishing houses and major groups that make up today's French publishing landscape have answered the call. As guarantors of a highly symbolic literary heritage and talent scouts, their authors will follow in the footsteps of Vian, Beauvoir, Sartre, Camus and so many others who have remade the world and left their mark.
"Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a literary district. First, it was the place where encyclopedists gathered during the Age of Enlightenment. Then, in the 19th century, it was the turn of publishers to bring in their authors, such as Georges Sand and Balzac. Finally, in the 20th century, it was first the Surrealists and then, after the Liberation, Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre who assiduously frequented this unique territory. Even today, numerous bookshops and publishing houses keep this formidable heritage alive. It is in this same spirit that the Salon du livre was created, bearing witness to a literary vitality that is as strong as ever.

"Involved for many years in the cultural life (founder of the Left Bank magazine, Cerise Paris City Magazine) and literary life (author meetings, literary prizes) in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, I imagined this Book Fair as a coherent event consubstantial with the German-Pratin DNA. I'm delighted to be producing this first edition, and to be making this Salon, which will present a panorama of all literary genres, accessible free of charge."
