Dance: Cécile Loyer at the Musée Guimet

Cécile Loyer lived for six months in Tokyo. A six-month period of artistic creation during which she forged links with the artistic cultures she is fascinated in and she integrates into her work. Since then, she worked with the female dancer and Butoh specialist, Mitsuyo Uesugi.

This passion leads her today to the Musée Guimet where she and her own company present a contemporary dance and other performances within the museum’s permanent collection rooms.

  After staying several times at Chennai (Madras) in southern India and discovering the Bharatanatyam, Cécile Loyer combines two traditions and two dramatically different visions of the body. She used this cross-cultural perspective to create her show Histoires Vraies (True Stories), moving from one culture to the other. On the stage, two Indian dancers and two European dancers are the witnesses and the storytellers of their own story to twist it, move about and swap roles...

  Created by and for two dancers, the T.A.C. are short stories, often funny, created for in-between areas, crossing points, shared spaces: a theater hall, a shopping mall, a store entrance, a corridor, a bar, a staircase…
